Geographic description
Located south of Dijon, the Gevrey-Chambertin appellation is the top village of the Côte de Nuits. In 1847, by royal order of King Louis Philippe, the name Chambertin was attached to Gevrey and officially became Gevrey-Chambertin. With the deformation of Les Chesaux coupled with a bad cut, we arrive at Les Échesaux more or less spelled. It finally Aux Echezeaux who imposed in Gevrey. This designation comes from the Latin Casellum: secondary dwellings on a domain.
Geological description
The plot is located just below "Clos des Ormes" and south of the famous "Charmes-Chambertin". The vines are planted on a brown soil with around 40% clay content, lava and iron ore. The soils are less porous than Premiers Crus. However this climate shows good typicity thanks to the presence of limestone.
