CHAMBERTIN CLOS DE BEZE Grand Cru
2019
- Description of the appellation
This parcel predates Chambertin. In 640, Duke Amalgaire gave land to the Abbey of Bèze and the monks cleared a wood which was then planted with vines.
In 1227, the Chapter of Langres bought a vineyard before the Clos. The reputation and quality of the Clos de Bèze wines is such that in 1761 the wines were already selling for 20 times more than a century earlier.
- Geological profile
The vines are planted due east, halfway up the slope, well ventilated by the north wind and protected from the rain-bearing west winds. The altitude is between 270 and 280 metres. This parcel lies on very rich limestone soils.
