CHAMBOLLE MUSIGNY Premier Cru
Les Charmes Vieilles Vignes
2019
- Description of the appellation
Chambolle gets its name from the bubbling appearance of the "Grône" stream after a storm. In 1878, the village's name was officially changed to include the name of its best Cru, Musigny. This A.O.C. is only used for red wines and covers a total area of 182 hectares. The term "Charmes" refers to former fields that have been left fallow and would therefore be best understood as "Chaume" (fallow land).
- Geological profile
This plot is located as a continuation of Les Amoureuses and is part of the Premier Cru vineyards. The majority of the vines are over 100 years old. The soil is brown, limestone, deep, with a soft rock present at about 40 cm.
- Vinification & Aging
Bio-lunar… At each stage, all our work follows the rythm of the Moon’s synodic revolution… And we are fully committed to the principles of organic farming in the management of our vines.
The winemaking process involves aging the wines in a combination of oak barrels and concrete or stainless steel tanks.
- Food & Wine Pairing
This wine would pair well with truffle pasta or veal paupiettes.
