MOREY-SAINT-DENIS Premier Cru
Les Ruchots
2021
- Description of the appellation
The first mention of Morey dates to 1120, when it served as a place of refuge for the monks of Cîteaux in the 14th century. They likely owned many vineyards, and even had a wine press as early as 1306. The appellation extends from Dijon to Corgoloin and covers approximately 148 hectares, with 80% of the production being red wine. The terroir of "Ruchots" derives its name from the dialect for "small rocks".
- Geological profile
The plot is located south of Morey-Saint-Denis, beneath Le Clos de Tart. The vines draw their resources from a clay-limestone soil with a sprinkling of white marl and iron oxide on a subsoil of cracked flat rocks. Sheltered from cold winds, this hidden treasure of the Côte de Nuits produces silky wines of great harmony.
- Vinification & Aging
Bio-lunar… At each stage, all our work follows the rythm of the Moon’s synodic revolution… And we are fully committed to the principles of organic farming in the management of our vines.
Aging our wines in a combination of terracotta and wood allows them to fully express the authenticity of their Climat.
