GEVREY-CHAMBERTIN
Les Cazetiers
2020
- Description of the appellation
It was by Louis Philippe's royal decree in 1847 that the term Chambertin was associated with Gevrey to officially become Gevrey-Chambertin.
The parcel is located to the east next to the Clos St Jacques. Les Cazetiers has an eastern exposure, ideal for Pinot Noir. Overhung by a wood of oaks, this climate is protected from bad weather. Rather marly at the top, the soil is predominantly white. This plot is very steep, with many stones from top to bottom.
- Etymology
The word Cazetiers comes from Castel in the Middle Ages, then by derivation we would have obtained Castet then Cazetiers. The term Castel indicates the geographical position of the climate in the village since the plot is above Gevrey.
- Vinification & Aging
Biodynamie... At each stage, all our work follows the rhythm of the Moon’s synodic revolution...
Our vines are cultivated according to the philosophical principles of the Biodynamic culture…
Aging our wines in a combination of terracotta and wood allows them to fully express the authenticity of their Climat.
- Food & Wine Pairing
A duck breast or roast beef would go well with this Gevrey-Chambertin.
