MOREY-SAINT-DENIS
Très Girard
2022
- Description of the appellation
First mentioned as far back as 1120, fourteenth century Morey was a place of asylum for Cistercian monks who appeared to have possessed numerous vineyards and even a winery by 1306. The appellation extends from Chambolle-Musigny to Gevrey-Chambertin and covers around 148 hectares, 80% of which are planted with grapes for red wines.
Girard is in fact the name of the owner of this vineyard plot two centuries previously, a Mr Girard de Fropiac. "Traits" then "Très" means "Crais", types of sand or gravel that dominate the terrain or make up its bottom.
- Geological profile
The plot "Très Girard" is located in the AOC Villages in the Premier Cru "Clos Sorbe" and "Sorbets". The soil is composed of clay and limestone marl with white pebbles from the disintegration of the limestone bedrock.
